The former Baywatch star beat a host of other stunning actresses to take the prestigious accolade, in the list compiled by internet service provider AOL.

One AOL writer said of Pammie - who achieved worldwide fame as swimsuit-clad CJ Parker in the hit lifeguard series: "A completely knock-out blonde who wears a bathing suit and bounces around as she saves lives - Pamela Anderson took bodacious to a new level."

Pammie was closely followed in second place by Charlie's Angels star Farrah Fawcett.

Farrah's performance as one of the sexy crime-fighting trio made her an international sex symbol in the 70s, while her trademark 'Fawcett Flicks' hairstyle is still copied by women today.

Lynda Carter, the original Wonder Woman, came third, while another busty blonde, Heather Locklear, took fourth spot.

The top five was rounded off by Desperate Housewives actress Eva Longoria, who stars as lingerie-loving housewife Gabrielle in the hit US show.
